Common Quick Fixes for QR Code Issues
I can’t scan the QR code
Check the QR code display:
Make sure the QR code is displayed clearly.
Avoid placing QR codes on dark or patterned backgrounds.
Leave a small white border (2–5 pixels) around the QR code to help cameras read it properly.
Display the QR code in a well-lit area and avoid glare or shadows.
Test the QR code:
Try scanning the QR code from both your mobile pass and your device’s camera app.
💡 If it scans correctly from your camera app but not from your mobile pass, the QR code is likely not displayed properly!
Check your mobile device:
Wipe your camera lens with a clean, dry cloth to remove smudges or dirt.
Ensure your device and web browser are updated to the latest versions.
When I scan the QR code, it takes me to a random website or shows random text
This usually happens when the QR code is cropped or displayed incorrectly.
Make sure the QR code is shown in full, not cut off.
Avoid dark or patterned backgrounds.
Keep a white border (2–5 pixels) around the QR code.
Display it in good lighting, without glare or heavy shadows.
When I click to open the camera, nothing happens
Confirm your browser (Chrome, Safari, etc.) has permission to access the camera.
Make sure your device and browser are updated to the latest versions.

QR Code FAQs
Can I change the URL users go to when they scan the QR code?
No. Users will be directed to a Bandwango signup page where they can sign up for your passes.
Where can I download QR codes?
Channel QR: Access and download from the Channel Page in the left-hand menu.
Check-In QR: Available for download in the Pass Builder.
I downloaded the same QR code twice, but they look different.
That’s expected! The QR code design may vary slightly each time it’s generated, but the functionality remains the same when scanned.
If I scan the QR code and sign up for the pass, will my check-in be recorded?
No. Check-ins are only recorded when scanning the QR code from within the pass.
I created multiple passes that all require QR code check-ins. Do locations need separate QR codes?
No. Each location has one check-in QR code that works across all your passes. Locations only need to display that single code.
I scanned a QR code to sign up for a pass and saw other passes available. Why?
Check-In QR:
If you scanned a location’s check-in QR code with your camera app, you’ll see all passes that location participates in that require QR scanning. This list cannot be changed.Channel QR:
If your Channel QR shows incorrect or missing passes, update which passes are visible under your Channel Settings by enabling or disabling passes from the Explore Page.
The sign-up button is directing users to my landing page instead of the pass sign-up page. Why?
For the direct sign-up option to work, the pass must be enabled on the Explore Page.
To verify this, navigate to: Channels ➔ Item ➔ Edit
Otherwise, If the pass is not available on Explore, the system defaults to your website in general settings instead.
