💡 What are Polls?

Polls allow users to vote on participating locations. You set a minimum and maximum number of votes per user, and results are determined using ranked choice voting.

Polls can be:

  • Limited to a specific pass

  • Or span multiple passes

You can also choose whether to show results to voters and whether a visit is required before someone can vote.

  1. Click + New Poll

    • This will open a modal

  2. Enter a Poll Name

    • This is what users will see as the poll title

  3. Set Minimum Votes Per User

  4. Set Maximum Votes Per User

  5. Toggle Require Visit to Vote (Optional)

    • Users can only vote on places they've visited

  6. Toggle Display Results to Users (Optional)

🌐 How to Embed the Leaderboard

Want to display live results on your site?

  2. Click Embed

  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to place the embed code on your website

🎲 Example Use Cases

“Best of the Pass” Contests

Users can vote for their favorite restaurants, shops, or attractions featured on a pass. The winning locations could be highlighted in a future pass or on the app’s homepage, driving more traffic to those businesses and encouraging users to explore more options.

User-Driven Itinerary Recommendations

Votes can influence “top suggested” lists for other passholders. For example, if a city pass has 50 locations, the top-voted spots can be displayed prominently as must-visit places, making it easier for new users to prioritize their visit.

Themed Campaigns or Seasonal Promotions

Votes can be tied to specific campaigns, like “Summer Favorites” or “Holiday Hot Spots,” allowing organizers to create themed leaderboards that engage users around a seasonal or promotional initiative.

🗳️ How Ranked Choice Results are Determined:

About Ranked Choice Voting:

Voting should follow the ranked voting methodology, where the winners are selected via instant-runoff voting (IRV). Here’s how it generally works:

  1. Initial Count: Voters rank candidates in order of preference (1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc). In the first round, only the first-choice votes are counted.

  2. Majority Check: If a candidate receives more than 50% of the first-choice votes, they win outright.

  3. Elimination Process: If no candidate receives more than 50%, the candidate with the fewest first-choice votes is eliminated.

  4. Redistribution: The votes of the eliminated candidate are redistributed to the remaining candidates based on the voters’ next preferences.

  5. Repeat: Steps 2-4 are repeated until a candidate receives more than 50% of the votes in a round.
