Pass Builder offers 5 check-in types -- there is something to meet every goal! Read below for information on how each one works and insights on when we recommend each type.
GPS
This is the perfect low-maintenance solution for your businesses and a great option for mural trails and public art passes.
By default, the system will create a 0.25 mile radius around the location to allow check-in. This also requires passholders to turn on location services in their browser (the pass will prompt them -- no tech skills required!). As long as passholders are within that radius, they can complete the check-in.
The 0.25 mile radius is as small as the system will allow. Think about when you're using the GPS on your phone while driving -- sometimes it thinks you're on a parallel road, sometimes it can't keep up with your turns. GPS isn't accurate enough to make the radius smaller. However, you can always make the radius bigger if the location doesn't get great service, or is a large area.
✨Bandwango Pro Tip✨
The pass does not notify passholders when they're close enough to a Place to check-in, so don't be afraid to increase the radius in order to make it easy for folks to check-in and get their points.
PIN
PIN check-in requires passholders to enter a 4-digit PIN in order to complete their check-in. Each business will add a PIN during Bandwango Onboarding or, when you build out a new business, you will assign the PIN.
This is a great option if you want to ensure that passholders are entering the business and interacting with staff! The business will be responsible for ensuring that their staff is aware of the pass and the PIN or for posting the PIN inside their establishment.
If you're concerned about passholders managing to turn on location services, you can also post PINs at public art locations -- some partners print yard signs for this purpose!
✨Bandwango Pro Tip✨
To support the participating businesses, some of our partners have had success providing print collateral to the businesses -- include a poster, window cling, or table tents advertising the pass with a place to include the PIN!
PIN or GPS
If you prefer to give passholders a backup method to finalize their check-in, you can choose PIN or GPS. The pass will attempt to validate via GPS first, and will offer an option to enter a PIN instead.
QR Code
If you choose QR Code validation, Experience Builder will create a QR code for each Place, which you can download from each Place's settings. This QR code will be used across all passes that the business appears on. Like PIN, you can provide print collateral to the businesses so that they can post their QR code.
If you want to be doubly sure that passholders are at the location and not sharing the QR code with their friends, you can also enable GPS -- this will require both scanning the QR code and being present at the location to complete the check-in.
Quiz
Looking to create a history trail or scavenger hunt? Quiz check-ins are for you!
Set up a multiple choice quiz question for each location on your pass. You can decide how many chances passholders have to get the correct answer and how long they have to wait between guesses. You can also enable GPS to ensure that people are at the location while completing their check-in.
