When setting up experiences on your Bandwango pass, choosing the right redemption method is key to balancing convenience for the passholder and control for the location. Bandwango offers several redemption options, each designed to accommodate different operational needs and environments. Whether you're looking for a simple, one-click experience or a more secure, location-verified approach, there's a method that fits your goals. This article outlines the available redemption types—from standard redemptions to GPS-based validation—so you can make an informed decision when configuring your pass.

Why Use a Specific Redemption Method?

Understanding the benefits of each redemption type can help you deliver a more secure, engaging, and reliable experience for both passholders and partner locations. Here are a few options to consider when selecting your redemption method:

Gate Redemption with Validation Method:

Using redemption methods like a Venue PIN, GPS, or QR code adds a layer of validation that helps prevent misuse. This ensures that redemptions are happening at the correct location and by real visitors, making it ideal for offers with a higher value or limited quantity.

Track Accurate Visitor Data:

Validated redemptions (via GPS or PIN) give you confidence that passholders are physically visiting the location, which improves reporting accuracy and helps you better measure foot traffic and campaign performance.

Add Rewards Points to Vouchers:

When using redemption methods like Venue PIN or GPS, you can tie redemptions to your pass’s rewards system. This allows passholders to earn points for completing check-ins or redemptions, incentivizing participation and increasing engagement.

Prevent Staff Abuse or Accidental Redemptions:

Gated methods such as requiring a PIN or QR code help ensure only authorized staff can confirm redemptions, reducing the risk of accidental or fraudulent claims.

Flexibility in Challenging Environments:

The “GPS or PIN” option offers a flexible fallback—perfect for rural or indoor locations with poor cell signal. Passholders can still redeem by entering a PIN, ensuring a smooth experience even without reliable GPS data.

❗️Please Note: Choosing different redemption methods is only available for Check-Ins and Coupons.

Understanding the Different Validation Types

Validation Method

Explanation

Standard Redemption

Non-gated redemption, simply click redeem to claim voucher.

Venue Pin Number

Requires passholder to enter a 4 digit pin code to redeem.

  • Please Note: Locations can only have one PIN number associated with them. This PIN number will be used for all redemptions and check-ins with a PIN validation across your passes.

Device GPS

Passholder must be within a specified radius of the location to redeem.

Device GPS or Pin Number

Passholder will be asked to redeem within a certain radius of the location. There is an option to skip this radius check by entering the Venue Pin Number instead.

  • This is a good option when you would like to use GPS redemption, but there may be poor or unreliable cell service at the location.

QR Code Scan

Passholder will scan a printed QR code to redeem the offering.
