Adding a second check-in at a Place allows you to spotlight partner businesses, promote special events, and provide visitors with extra opportunities to earn rewards. This feature enhances your overall passport experience and can help you increase routine engagement, making it a valuable tool for you and your partners.
𧩠Example Scenario: Create an Additional Check-In for an Event
The folks at Maple Ridge Creamery are hosting a âSummer Sundae Socialâ every Saturday in July, and they want to encourage more foot traffic during those events. They already have one check-in for general visits to the creamery, but theyâve requested we add an additional check-in specifically for guests who attend the social.
To do this, you will:
Navigate to the respective pass in the Experience Builder.
Select "Activities", then "Manage Activities", then "New Activity".
Select "Custom Action" and then search "Maple Ridge Creamery" to connect the new activity to the correct Place.
Name your new activity âSummer Sundae Socialâ and set the available days and times using blackout dates to match the event schedule.
Customize the reward points value, further incentivizing passholders to attend.
Send a message to your passholders saying, âGet ready to earn double points! Donât miss our Summer Sundae Social, happening every Saturday in July!â
Which default settings apply to my additional check-in?
Additional check-ins will use the default validation method set by your pass, but you may change this validation type at any time when creating or editing your new check-in.
If you would like your additional check-ins to repeat, you must add this setting upon creation.
Your additional check-ins will reward the default reward point value unless specified on the Gamification page.
How to: Create Additional Check-Ins
Open up the Pass Builder.
Click the name of the pass you wish to edit.
In the Pass Builder menu, click Activities.
Click Manage Activities and then New Activity.
Select Bonus Check-In and then click Next
Search for an existing place to connect your bonus check-in to one of those places.
Edit the Name to distinguish the additional check-in from the default one and add a Description.
Select Repeat Use, Restrictions (for things like blackout dates), Validation (for selecting a different validation from your pass default), or Customization (for label text changes) if any of those are needed.
When finished, click Save.
Your additional Check-In is now created and selected. Click Save Changes to add it to your pass!
(Optional) Add rewards point value to additional Check-In(s)
Click Gamification.
Scroll down to Custom Points.
Locate your additional Check-In and add your desired point value in the respective field.
Click Save Changes.
You've now created an additional check-in on your mobile pass and added a unique point value to incentivize your guests!
Best Practices for Using Additional Check-Ins
Align with Partner Goals
Coordinate with your local businesses or sponsors to determine how a second check-in can support their objectivesâwhether it's driving traffic during slower hours, highlighting new offerings, or supporting a special event.
Tie to Events or Promotions
Use a second check-in to coincide with limited-time events, seasonal campaigns, or exclusive in-store offers, adding a sense of urgency and excitement for passholders.
Clearly Communicate the Value
Make sure visitors know what theyâll gain from a second check-inâwhether it's extra points, bonus entries, or a unique reward. This motivates engagement and return visits.
Track and Measure Performance
Monitor check-in data to evaluate which locations and strategies drive the most engagement. Use these insights to refine future campaigns.
